Dear Maria,

"First of all let me wish you a Happy New Year.  Next I'd like to thank you for the absolutely wonderful 25th anniversary vacation that you helped plan.  The plane was new (USA 3000) like you explained and the ride was fine.  Thank you for the complimentary tickets for the movie -- they helped the ride go by quickly.  The arrival at the Cancun airport was a bit hectic with so many people not speaking English and all of them trying to grab at our bags at the same time.  Your having arranged for our own private driver was an absolute godsend.  The driver ushered us to his waiting car and quickly we were on our way.  There seemed to be total pandemonium for all the other people trying to arrange their rides to their respective hotels. 

Upon arriving at our hotel gate we were very impressed to see the entrance of Secrets Capri Resort.  It was very grandiose and only heightened our expectation of the actual hotel.  As we drove along the entrance we were amazed at the jungle which bordered on both sides of our immaculately manicured road and when we finally approached the hotel we were mesmerized by such a beautiful and grandiose hotel.  We were quickly whisked inside to two very large winged back chairs and immediately greeted with some cool towels and champagne to refresh ourselves (such royal treatment).  We were then escorted to our spacious room with a very beautiful view of both the pool and the ocean.  Shortly after that our concierge appeared at our door with a beautiful floral arrangement and a discount coupon for the spa as a welcoming gift for our anniversary -- a very classy touch.

From then on out we thought that we had died and gone to heaven!  The refrigerator in our room was restocked constantly and the concierge took wonderful care of us as well.  The restaurants were spectacular and the wait staff superb.  It is as if they could read your mind and bring you whatever you wanted before you could even ask for it.  The food was marvelous and of first quality.  Every dish was prepared and decorated as if it was being served to a sultan!  No reservations needed, no waiting and no armbands necessary.  You just walked in whenever and wherever you wanted to eat and we were immediately seated.  How utterly refreshing not to have to wait in any line whatsoever.  This was certainly a wonderful treat.

Each restaurant had its own specialty  and we enjoyed every one of them.  Our waiters were very friendly and we got to know each of them very well.  Even when we were on the beach, the staff was very attentive, whether it was to bring you a cool drink or even a lunch menu.  They were fantastic.

Here is a cute little story for you:  At one point I mentioned to someone in management that the Holiday decorations/tree were spectacular but I asked them why they were only lit at night?  They replied that electricity is very expensive and they only use what they must.  I told them that Christmas in the US is a very visible and that if we were back home in the US the tree would be lit constantly.  Well, the very next day when I came down for breakfast at 8:00 am guess what?  The tree was glowing in all its splendor and it remained that way until our departure.  They never turned it off again.  (My husband was cracking up when he told me that they would probably be mailing me the electric bill).

The pool and surrounded areas were beautiful and well-maintained.  Each palm tree was decorated with holiday lights and at night the grounds were spectacular looking.  There were plenty of towels, mats and chairs and again the wait staff attended to our every need.

We did attend the Manager's Party where I spoke very highly of you and your agency in great detail to the General Manager, Mr. Robert Noe.  I spoke to him in great detail about how you arranged our lovely anniversary trip.  I found you on the internet and how well you arranged our trip.  He asked be to extend his regards to you both.  He explained that they were still trying to get things in order and that many touches still needed to be completed.  He was grateful for our input.  He asked me to extend his personal greeting to you both.

When I asked my husband on a scale of 1 to 10 how much he liked this trip his resounding answer was a 200.  I think you succeeded in showing him that there is another vacation option besides camping.  God Bless you for that!

Anyways, the only negative comment I can come up with is this:  in the evenings there was virtually no peppy entertainment at all.  On any given night the bar only had 2 or 3 people in it, even on the weekends.  It was usually a single singer with a guitar accompaniment, very low key.  The other entertainment was in the cigar bar where the same type of entertainment was also taking place.  There was a man playing the piano and singing.  They had two places for entertainment and both places had the same type of music.  The only entertainment we did enjoy there was the Calypso night where they had a dinner and dance show.  This was peppy and entertaining and we enjoyed that show very much.  The dancers interacted with the audience making it lots of fun.  They even dragged me up there to dance with them.

All in all our vacation was a marvelous getaway.  Thank you soooo much for going out of your way to make it happen that way.  I guess my gut feeling was right when it told me to take a chance on you -- all the way over there in PA, even though I am a very cautious person with very high expectations.
