Judy and Maria's First Impression of the Club hotel Riu Tequila: What a wonderful surprise. The Club Hotel Riu Tequila is not located directly on the beach and we had preconceptions vacationing here. Wrong! Well, being off the beach does not make a difference. The Riu Tequila Resort is a beautiful, active and fun resort with so much to offer vacationers!
The Riu Tequila Resort is located 1.8 miles from Playa del Carmen and 34 miles from the Cancun International Airport. The resort consists of a main building and 2-story additional buildings and is surrounded by 57,600 square yards of lush gardens. The resort is situated within a golf resort development and although not located directly on the beach, the beach is only 880 yards away (complimentary transportation is provided). The Riu Tequila is 330 yards from Mexican Street – the main shopping area.

Judy and Maria’s Summary of the Club Riu Tequila Hotel: The Riu Tequila Resort is a delightful vacation option. Although the resort is not directly located on the beach, a tropical pathway is constructed for guests to access the beautiful white-sand palm-tree lined beach at the Riu Yucatan (just minutes from the resort - the resort also offers shuttle service to beach). Guests can lunch at the open-air restaurant on the beach and savor the view of the turquoise sea. The Riu Tequila has a large disco and amphitheater that is considered to be one of the best in the area. The resort is active and we noticed somewhat younger guests at this resort. The pool is large and the sand volleyball court is a nice touch. Guests have use of the Riu Yucatan and Riu Playacar (excluding dinners). The resort features a wonderful children’s program. The Riu Tequila Resort is a good selection for the budget conscious. The resort has so much to offer to guests - the Club Hotel Riu Tequila is a winner!
