Judy and Maria's First Impression of the Riu Playacar Resort: The Riu Playacar Resort is a smaller and intimate resort versus the large Riu Yucatan, Palace and Tequila. The Riu Playacar lobby's decor is European/Spanish with a polished-marble lobby, artwork, dark woods and iron chandeliers. The Riu Playacar has lovely pastel-colored cottages, well-manicured gardens and a great white sand beach overlooking a wonderful stretch of turquoise ocean.
The Riu Playacar Resort is located on the Yucatan peninsula and is 1.8 miles from Playa del Carmen and it is only 34 miles to the Cancun International Airport. The resort is situated on the beach, within a hotel development and features an 18-hole golf course. The resort features a main entrance building and 3-story bungalow complex buildings. The Riu Playacar is surrounded by 19,000 square yards of lush gardens. The resort is 110 yards to shopping center on Mexican Street and is located adjacent to the Riu Yucatan Resort.

Judy and Maria's Summary of the Riu Playacar Resort
The Riu Playacar Resort is a small and intimate resort. The resort is used as an overflow property for the larger Riu Yucatan Resort and Riu Tequila Resort. The Riu Playacar is quiet and relaxing. This resort does not offer as many activities (such as disco) as the Riu Yucatan and Riu Tequila. The Riu Playacar is perfect for those guests who are price conscious. Although the resort is small and does not offer as many amenities, guests have full use of the Riu Tequila and Riu Yucatan (excluding dinner) and both resorts are within walking distance. You will receive the best of all the Riu Resorts (excluding the new Riu Palace Mexico) a great pool, a wide white sand palm-tree lined beach, fine dining and courteous staff – a magnificent opportunity for a first-class vacation. Guests will want for nothing at the Riu Playacar Resort.
