Puerto Aventuras Travel: Location
| Puerto Aventuras is located along the Mexican Caribbean coastline in the
state of Quintana Roo [Yucatan Peninsula], approximately 390 miles from Key
West, Florida. It is in between Cancun and Tulum, South of Playa del Carmen/Playacar,
North of Tulum. Puerto Aventuras is ideally
located on the Mexican Caribbean in the heart of the Riviera Maya. The Cancun
International Airport and is just 60 minutes to the north and bohemian Playa Del
Carmen with its ever growing 5th Avenue is 15 minutes north as well. Puerto Aventuras is a world class residential community resort located in the heart of the Riviera Maya on the Mexican Caribbean. Fatima Bay is the main beach area with over 1.5 miles of beachfront beginning at Chac Hal and ending at the Grand Peninsula [hotels].
Chac Hal Al inlet and beachfront which is located to the south is an exclusive zone for private owners.
To the South of Puerto Aventuras just 20 minutes driving are the Mayan Ruins of Tulum. After a visit to the Ruins you can see that the Mexican Government weren't the first to think that this was indeed the ideal vacation spot. Mayan Kings vacationed here and the temples and communities still stand thousands of years later as a tribute to the beauty of this destination.

Dive Puerto Aventuras
Puerto Aventuras has highly trained and experienced staff of multi-lingual instructors, dive masters and guides as well as state-of-the-art equipment and custom dive boats that ensure you a safe and action-filled diving experience.
Divers may plan and decide their
own adventure. The reef is only a hundred yards from the beach. The reef's
first platform is only 60' deep and will offer all you'll want to see. For
the more demanding diver a second platform goes 120' and from there a cliff
where the most daring diver will not reach bottom.
Under the watchful eyes of the ancient Mayas in the warm Caribbean waters off the Yucatan Peninsula exists a truly amazing underwater world: here divers explore the reefs of the Riviera Maya swimming with turtles and schools of Tarpon. They drift along the coral covered walls of famous Cozumel Island named by Jacques Cousteau as one of the best dive spots in the world. And they discover the incredible serenity of daylight cavern diving in the famous Mexican Cenotes - the worlds largest fresh water system formed over 10’s of thousands of years ago.

Puerto Aventuras Golf and Tennis
The PA Golf course is an exiting and challenging course. This beautiful 36 par 9-hole jungle golf course was designed in 1991 by Thomas Leman and is still one of the best kept secrets in the area.
The fairways and greens are covered by a smooth carpet of Bermuda Grass and surrounded by Palm trees, bugambilias, tropical ficus and lush foliage. On your daily rounds you may encounter iguanas, deer and different species of tropical birds and other local fauna.
The Proshop offers a selection of golf items, beverages and club rentals. On your daily rounds you may encounter iguanas, deer and different species of tropical birds and other local fauna.
The synthetic grass Tennis courts are surrounded by lush vegetation. They are open daily from 8:30 am till dark. Golf and Tennis lessons can be arranged directly at the Proshop.
Beach Puerto Aventuras
Puerto Aventuras has beautiful beaches and the snorkeling is much better here than anywhere northerly. The ocean water temperature reaches its highest point in late August early September. Then some days it can be like swimming in a warm bathtub. Even during the coolest times of the year the water is still okay to swim in.

From the Desks of Judy and Maria Puerto Aventuras - an incredibly delightful surprise! Puerto Aventuras is a hidden gem. Puerto Aventuras is a well-groomed gated community of homes, condos, a golf course, restaurants, craft shops and the Marina. One morning we stopped by the Casa Caribe Restaurant for a soft drink. We met a lovely man (we did not know at the time he was Gringo Dave, the owner) who was making banana pancakes for his patrons (pancakes smelled and looked so good) and in conversation we learned that he was from Pittsburgh, PA and operates two local restaurants and offers villa rentals in the area. Dining at Gringo Daves is a must as the food is great! Give it a try. One late afternoon we sat outside of a local cafe that overlooked the marina and enjoyed a cappuccino while watching tourists and dolphins interacting with each other in the water at the Dolphin Discovery. Our husbands went out on a morning fishing charter with Captain Rick's Sport Fishing (located in the marina) and we began conversing with a woman working in the office (Glenna). It turns out that she originates from Ohio -- a small world. There are several hotels located in the marina district including the Sunscape Puerto Aventuras Resort (5-million dollar renovation recently completed). The Sunscape Puerto Aventuras is centrally located and within walking distance to the marina, shopping and restaurants and a very nice resort. During your next visit to the Mayan Riviera make it a point to stop by the lovely town of Puerto Aventuras to experience true Mexican culture. You won't be sorry! |
