Judy and Maria's First Impression of the Riu Palace Mexico Resort
The Riu Palace Mexico Resort is exquisite. One's first impression is of elegance - breathtaking polish-marble floors and Austrian crystal chandeliers, artwork, hand-painted murals and dark wood furniture - a true Spanish decor is prevalent. The Riu Palace Mexico Resort presents guests with the impression of being in a luxurious European palace.
The Riu Palace Mexico is located in the Yucatan peninsula - 1.8 miles from Playa del Carmen and 34 miles from the Cancun International Airport. The resort is situated on the beach, within a hotel development featuring an 18-hole golf course.
The Riu Palace Mexico is beautiful. Upon entry into the lobby, one revels in the beauty and design of the resort. Elegance abounds - from the hand-painted murals on the ceiling, to the marble floors and elegant furnishings, guests will have the impression of being transported to old world Spain. To the left of the lobby entrance is a small replica of a Spanish cathedral built with gold encrusted dark wood, statues and artworks. Guests can prearrange to be married in the cathedral.
The Riu Palace Mexico is a three-story building and is surrounded by 24,000 square yards of lush, well-manicured gardens similar to the Palace of Versailles.

The Riu Palace Mexico is a wonderful and elegant resort. The resort has a European atmosphere throughout with its dark wood furniture to its elegant polished-marble floors, stairways and crystal chandeliers. It is truly a beautiful resort for the upscale guest looking for pampering and relaxation a fine cigar, cappuccino, and a Kir. All of our meals were a gastronomical delight perfectly prepared and served. The staff was courteous, pleasant and very accommodating to guests. Although the resort offers a kids club, the Riu Palace Mexico is not the best choice for families. The resort is geared to adults, honeymooners, and singles seeking elegance. The Riu Palace Mexico has a wonderful swimming pool and white-sand, palm-lined beach. The Riu Palace Mexico is one of the true elegant resorts in the Riviera Maya region.
