Casa de Campo's Peter Dye-designed golf courses are among the best in the world. The "Teeth of the Dog" has seven holes right on the ocean. It consistently ranks in Golf Magazine's "Top100 Courses in the world" and is considered the finest course in the Caribbean. The "Links" is a challenging inland course; and the new "Dye Fore" perched atop the bluffs of the Chavón River, is a masterpiece destined to rival the "Teeth of the Dog." Tee times are available

Pete Dye Golf Creation |
After five years under construction, Pete Dye's newest creation at Casa de Campo opens for play to great anticipation. Pete - with wife Alice at his side, created Dye Fore 500-feet above the Chavón River. Dye Fore has spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, the mountains, the Chavón River below and the Altos de Chavón artists' village. Visually, the course is intimidating and the par 3's are incredible. Although very playable from the forward tees, this course will stand the test of time as it measures over 7,800 yards from the back tee's. The Dye Fore golf course provides golfers spectacular views of the quaint artisan village of Altos de Chavón, This new course, will be the first planted from its inception -- with two new strains of grass that thrive on salt water. | |

Altos de Chavón
|
Altos de Chavón (west of Bayahibe) is a Caribbean art center built in 1976 to resemble a Mediterranean village from the 1500s. Charles Bludhorn, president of Golf & Western Corporation built the Mediterranean village as a birthday gift for his daughter. Perched atop a bluff overlooking the Chavón River, Altos de Chavón features an archaeological museum that is the most important Dominican museum outside the capital. The Church of San Estanislao is in the center of the village. The village of Altos de Chavón also has numerous restaurants, art galleries, a Taino art museum, stores, disco, school of design and an amphitheatre. The amphitheatre of Stops of Chavón has seating for 5000. It was inaugurated in 1982 and many well-known celebrities (Frank Sinatra and Carlos Santana), artists and rock groups have performed at the amphitheatre. FYI: Scenes from the movie Apocalypse Now were filmed at Altos de Chavón. Altos de Chavón - well worth the visit. One is magically transported back in time to old Europe. Visualize dining in an open-air restaurant situated high on a bluff overlooking the Chavón River and the lush tropical vegetation of the valley below. Dine on fresh seafood, fine wine and enjoy the warm tropical breeze - an incredible experience. Consider a helicopter flight from Punta Cana to La Romana - a once in a lifetime happening and well worth the money spent. You will be talking about the experience for years-to-come! |
